“The Investigation”

Three men sat in a semicircle at a round table in a private conference room at the Law Enforcement Center.

“Let’s begin,” the Police Commissioner said nodding his head towards the ATF agent in front of him.

They have worked together before. He respected the ATF agent because he got things done.

“I met with a snitch after a tip and I think the information is reliable following my own investigation,” the ATF agent said.

“Is it in the report you prepared?” the DEA agent assigned to the case asked, while looking at the folder in front of him.

“Yes…Ah…Nathan Washington, a.k.a ‘Hustle Man’,” the ATF agent said looking over at the Commissioner, whose mind seemed to be somewhere else.

“I see,” the DEA agent said getting excited over what he was reading.

“As you gentlemen can see, my confidential informant, alias Hustle Man’ has been an informer seventeen years for local and federal agencies. After watching the 48 hours episode, he immediately contacted the field office. I was contacted and dispatched out in to the field to meet him. The meeting took place at a Holiday Inn off Highway 49. The C.I informed me that a drug dealer named Lil Greg is responsible. A last name wasn’t known by the C.I.

I ran the alias, and received several hits and printed out mug shots. The C.I. immediately identified the suspect. Gregory Harris, 38, black male. He has three drug priors. That was all my C.I. could provide. The rest came from my follow up.” The ATF agent finished pleased to see that he had their undivided attention.”

“And your investigation?” the Commissioner asked, hoping that this was the break he was looking for. He silently prayed that it was. The mayor was on his ass and it was needed fast!!

“Yeah…Ah…I checked with the local field office, and for two days I went over tips from the thirty five C.I.’s in the region. Several of the reports were on a drug dealer named Lil Greg. As I read further, I was able to link the dealer Lil Greg in to the two female victims…Good news…I also located a photo of Lil Greg and fifteen other local dealers in from a known drug house owned by Lele Beckham. If you look at the photo in the back of the folder, that is our suspect standing on top of the Maserati.” The ATF agent said moving. The case was warming up!

“Anybody else in the photo identified?” the DEA agent asked.

“Yes, as a matter of fact. On the driver’s door of the car is a dealer identified as Adrian. No last name. There were also no hits on the NCIC search.” The ATF agent said waiting. He was very sure about his report.

“Did you investigate this Adrian suspect?” the Commissioner asked pressing for more. He needed more. This was just not good enough!

“I did. Apparently he is our suspects go to guy in the streets.”

“How about you?” the P.C. asked the DEA agent.

“I think we’re on to something big,” the DEA agent said as he finished up the report.
